We’ve moved away from traditional "highlight" tiers to Custom Blonding Sessions. This means you no longer have to guess which technique you need. Every session is all-inclusive—toners, root smudges, and specialty techniques are all built-in. We simply choose the session length based on the area of the head we are working on and the transformation you're looking for.
SOLID COLOR
for grey coverage, tone correction, and everything in between
Whether you need a quick root touch-up or a full-length transformation, every color appointment is built around scalp protection and long-term hair health.
Express Retouch
Fast, gentle, effective. Permanent color on regrowth up to 1” using Milk Shake’s 9-minute formula — full gray coverage or luminous blending with reduced processing time.
Standard Retouch
Your regular touch-up with demi-permanent, semi-permanent, or vivid color.
Standard 20-30 minute processing for reliable, predictable results.
Solid Blonding Retouch
The double-process for all-over blondes. Lift and tone with scalp protection, bond repair, and precision application to avoid banding and breakage.
Full Length Custom Color Session
Scalp to ends coverage for extended regrowth, faded mids, or a full tone shift. When a retouch isn’t enough and you need the whole picture refreshed.

What's the difference between highlights and Modern Blonding?
Highlights (foils, balayage, babylights, etc) are individual services usually based on coverage level — face-frame, partial, or full. Modern Blonding is a comprehensive approach that includes whatever techniques your hair needs (lowlights, teasylights, root work) to achieve a customized, editorial-level result. It’s blonding without menu limitations.
What kind of highlights do I get with a blonding session?
To provide the best hair color in Valparaiso, we’ve moved away from restrictive service names. When you book a Custom Blonding Session, you’re booking a result, not a checklist. By selecting a session based on the amount of coverage you want (Mini, Partial, or Full), you give us the creative freedom to mix and match techniques like root smudging, tipping out, and precision foiling. It’s the modern way to get the hair you want without the 'add-on' confusion.
I want to touch up previous highlights. What should I book?
When booking your custom blonding session, you have the option of booking a standard session or a maintenance session. Book the maintenance session of your choice to retouch up to 4 months (approximately 2") of outgrowth. If its been longer than 4 months since your last highlight, choose the standard session.
What's the difference between an express and standard retouch?
Express Retouch uses Milk Shake’s 9-minute permanent color for fast, gentle grey coverage on up to 1” of regrowth. Standard Retouch uses traditional 20-minute processing and works with demi-permanent, or semi-permanent color formulas, best for grey blending or going darker
Will color damage my hair?
Hair color is a chemical service that, along with heat and physical tension, can act as a stressor to the hair. However, damage is not an inevitable part of the process—it typically only occurs when the hair is subjected to repeated stress, such as overlapping lightener onto previously processed strands. To protect your hair’s integrity, we focus on precision placement. New growth is treated as virgin hair at the root, and 'tip outs' utilize our most gentle formulas with minimal processing time to avoid over-taxing the hair. By combining intentional formulation with advanced bond-building technology, we ensure your hair stays strong, healthy, and resilient throughout every transformation.
How often should I come in for color
It depends on the service, but to keep your results looking fresh, some maintenance is required. Root touch-ups are typically every 4–6 weeks. Traditional highlights every 8–12 weeks. Glosses every 4–8 weeks. Modern blonding every 3-4 months. We’ll build a maintenance schedule that works for your budget and lifestyle.
